COCKSUCKER OF ANOTHER KIND
It’s funny how
all too many people
puts down
some of the gay poets
that I know
like, how can you
be friends
with someone like that?
and I always wonder
someone like what?
What exactly
has anyone done wrong?
I have no desire
to hurt anyone
that doesn’t hurt me
Besides people are
what they are
because of biology
and hormones and nature
and stop to consider
other aspects slightly
outside of the equation
I can go to work
and take orders from people
I clearly don’t respect
and don’t come close
to deserving said respect
people that will laugh
at my jokes
and slap me on the back;
soften me up
and then stick the knife in
many of my friends
are also far less loyal
than one would suppose
there are cocksuckers
of another kind indeed
and all the while
I’m supposed to worry
about gay poets who aren’t
at least not
in the negative, figurative way
I’m sorry
but I really don’t get it
I don’t get it at all
I am always amazed at how
I am always amazed at how some very literate people, even poets, will bash another poet for his or her orientation and who he or she loves. Vergil who, far more than Homer, is foundational to all of Western literature, and was even considered by the early Christians to be a prophet of Christ's advent, was not hetero; and no one, during his lifetime in Rome, was the least bit bothered about it; not even his pal, the Emperor Augustus, who was a reactionary on so many other issues. We poets of the Western literary tradition are the spiritual daughters and sons of Vergil; and if some of us bash others for their orientation, we betray and dishonor the grandeur of his accomplishment.

I wasn't speaking specifically about poets being assholes here although it does happen. This was more about a lot of my friends, acquantances and co-workers in the real world. But yeah, there are some poets that can be real assholes, too.
neither do I, specially in
neither do I, specially in the so called 21st century.... if all individuals are unique, then each of the 7B+ would be different and nuanced from each other, as varied as snow crystals in the Arctic or the sands of the Sahara. We have a clue as to the whys but they are too embarrassing for the prejudiced to man up to. Lol

and we have a lot of people that want to take us backwards
