a fly lands

on my cup of coffee

and I get pissed off

If I swat it

I’ll have

dead fly remains

on my cup

and possibly even

in my coffee

it’s not a good morning

when a fly

gets in your face

before you finish

that precious first cup

there’s little

you can do about it

and that really sucks

luckily

the fly will leave

but it does

make me nervous

to think

it could have laid eggs

that would be real nice

and just what I need

fly larvae turning

into maggots

inside my stomach

so with that thought

I realize

I am really ready

to face the new day
