Being pulled aside

and told that

I was too loud

Too loud?  TOO LOUD?

How the Hell can you

be too loud for poetry?

I can see being told

I was long winded

or even boring

That much I admit:

a lot of my stuff

is longwinded and boring

of course,

the long, boring stuff

is what will

ultimately earn me

recognition as a genius

that’s the only reason

for writing the boring stuff

but as for being too loud

well, it’s fucking free speech

I’ll be as loud as I want.
