It’s a barnburner

and the local yokels

are out in force

and the sight

is none too pretty

but we make

the grand effort

and give it the old college try

and maybe—just maybe—

we’ll have some success

but 

at least

I can dream

in spite

the disquieting blandness

that surrounds me.
