Blissful Mortality

Completed Poems

Glorious Infinity masquerades in disguise

     Shown in the stars and the sky of no demise;

Waltzing in rhythm with Grandfather Time

     In his sea of sand where clocks sparkling shine.

Together they dance in the ballroom of Eternity,

     Leaving their subjects to the neglect of mortality;

Yet this is the life of the never-ending immortals:

     Gliding across the floors through columned portals.

The couple passes through each with such ease,

     Floating along like feathers on the breeze.

Era after era comes as they traverse their halls,

     Mangling the plans that Fate sets to befall.

Their dance as giants is one unstoppable,

     Their plans in motion permanently inescapable;

They are habitants of the great palace of everything,

     Free from constraint, but they want nothing

Desire, desire guides all others:

     The sun, the moon, and their solemn brothers;

Condemned by Fate are they without song,

     Their rhyme and their reason all but gone;

Thus they dance to the rhythm of Father Time,

     Lost to the tune of Infinity’s chimes.

This grandiose dance of ignorance

     Is but a planned ballad of immortals endless.

Beat by beat the dream continues,

     One by one they collapse to refuse.

As victims they fall, their deaths unnoticed,

     The kind villains conducting their doomsday opus.

Early graves are their condemnation:

     Godly hands guide their damnation;

Yet ignorance serves eternal bliss;

     They live and die in listlessness.
