Color me red

When a blush creeps up

And tickles my face

With pigmentation



Color me orange

When I speak in dance

And stumble over my words

Because you're staring



Color me Yellow

When I play with fire

And insist I won't get burnt

Though I do every time.



Color me green

When my eyes sparkle

and excitement tinges my mouth

When I smile



Color me blue

When I play in the rain

And come home laughing

drenched to the shivering bone



Color me purple

When I'm quiet and contemplative

And refuse to admit my problems

With a face of stone.



Color me rainbow

With your crayons of empathy

And markers of perplexity

That scrutinize my every thought.
