Take A Bow

Little girl, no more than three
Twirling circles in her kingdom
Playing princess, building her castle
Riding her majestic white horses
Her mother calls and the sun sets
The princess takes her bow

A young girl, home from school
Runs to her castle to hide
Wishful thoughts of princesses
Playing through sweet fantasy
Homework nestles into her mind
And the princess takes her bow

Into her castle a teen takes a seat
Brushing through things, reminiscing
Waiting for her knight in shining armor
To come along and rescue her
Darkness falls and she is still waiting
The princess quietly takes her bow

She sneaks in her castle late at night
Shadows creeping against her cheek
She can no longer wait for her prince
The white horses have all gone away
Slowly taking her knightly dagger
The princess takes her bow

Author's Notes/Comments:

I guess this is what you'd call a not so fairy-tale ending. The first version of this was better...but deleted. Alas, this one doesn't quite size up.
