Before 2006 waves lapping sand
the animals scurrying
no one is around
the wind’s whim with trees
ever they follow when it blows
ever they are friends
thump goes feet on ground
their meaningless endurance
will keep them going
flowers oh their power
strength and beauty always there
stand above all else
earth rich black fertile
when it’s by itself bare but
the promise is there
pretty leaf of green
unfurl to new beginnings
support the whole tree
