Thousands of years ago, when the last part of the Mesozoic era, the Cretaceous, took place, there were dinosaurs living peacefully. There were all kinds of dinosaurs, some were big, other small. Some were aquatics, other terrestrials and some other aerials. All of them ate different types of food. There was a lot of vegetation, everybody lived happily, nobody cared about the future, they lived in a paradise.

There was a group of dinosaurs that gather all afternoons, to talk about the day, laugh, relax and pass good time, leaving their sons playing with freely in the field. These friends were Robert the Triceratops, John the T-rex, Camil the Crocodile, Dino the Velociraptor.

A day, Camil arrived with a different face, he was pallid. All the dinosaurs noticed it and started to ask him what happened. Hesitating, Camil started to talk.

• Well, I don't know how to say it. I’m really worried, but I'm thinking of a plan. We will have to be very organized, but...

• Wait!, Robert said, What are you taking about? Have you gone mad?

• Yes! -said John- What plan?

• Yes, yes! Be clear- the rest said.

• Ahm, Do you promise that you will believe all that I'm going to say? -Camil asked.

• Yes, yes. -The friends answered.

• Well, yesterday, when I was taking a shower, I heard a voice that whispered: “Protect your kind”. I started to look all around, then the voice whispered again: “Protect your kind, there will be a catastrophe”. In the middle of my fear I hesitated, “Ca-ca-tastrophe?”. “Yes, you will be the savior”. “Why me?” I asked, “You are a leader and a very intelligent dinosaur, help your family and your friends, find a secure place...”

• Wait! - Robert said- The voice said that you are the most intelligent? Is it a joke? You are a selfish dinosaur; you just want us admire you.

• Yes, is true. -Dino said.

• No, the story is true.- Camil replied.

• Well tell us about the catastrophe, what will happen?

• Well, the voice didn't talked about the catastrophe.

• Well, I’m leaving, I don't believe anything. -Robert said.

Some of the dinosaurs followed him. That afternoon was hotter than the others. Camil took his son and went home. As they walked, the voice returned, “Protect your kind”. “Stop!, I lost all my friends because of you, nobody believe me!”, “Protect your kind”, the voice whispered again. “Well, I will do it, but what catastrophe you are talking about?”.

• Dad? - the son said- Are you ok?

Camil looked at his son and astonished saw an erupting volcano; he had never seen that phenomenon before.

• The catastrophe! Camil yelled.

They ran to the lake and jumped in, swam to the bottom and waited there. Through the water they could see the dinosaurs running, the lava oozing, some stones falling from the sky. There was a very big disaster. The catastrophe lasted weeks, they went to the top in order to take more oxygen and swim back to the bottom, some days Camil left for food. They got used to living in the water and were almost alone for many years. Now are one of the few dinosaurs that we know, crocodiles.
