Forgive Me

A father in his thirties

spent the last few years away.

I see him as a friend

in his love and through his pain

condemned to hell inside himself

for the mistake that he made.

He has a daughter,

and he thinks of her everyday...

Please forgive me...

I know that what I did

was wrong in so many ways.

I can't live without you

in my life for all of my days.

Oh believe me

when I say that I have changed...

please forgive me...

A girl in her mid teens

facing everyday and going farther.

Feeling alone inside

with Christmas around the corner

thinking of her father

who I know misses his own daughter...

Please forgive me...

I know that what I did

was wrong in so many ways.

I can't live without you

in my life for all of my days.

Oh believe me

when I say that I have changed...

please forgive me...

One day I hope

to see you two together.

I pray everyday

that you still love each other.

Both of you saved my life

in one way or another,

and I love you both

like a sister and a brother.

I pray for you like no other...

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this poem for both my uncle and his daughter...I hope that one day they will see each other again...

That is a really touching poem. I know a person who also has a daughter but never gets to see her. You captured the emotions well. I don't know what you could change, really. I think the poem is great how it is!
