Clarity Within the Flame

Watching it all burn before me, vaguely

Reaching out and destroying the memories

A person I wish I knew, a person I thought I was

Keeping faith in what I'm sure is a lost cause.

It's as if my sight went from blind to clear

Blurred and churned in with flames and tears

These years have changed me, shaped me

Into everything I promised myself I'd never be.

A monster that I can't seem to surpress

A nightmare I wish I could put to rest,

A hunger lingering that's left ignored  and unfed.

Watching it all burn before me, vaguely

Breaking down and destroying the memories

A person I wish I knew, a person I want to fade

And yet tonght I find clarity within the flame.

I think I read this one on your myspace blog once...
I especially love the expression of hunger and the ignored feelings. The way you capture it with the wording, "Clarity within the flame" is so amazing. It can revive emotions and relive them. You have a way with words.
