God Giveth and God Taketh Away

The nile gives

and the nile takes

Times of surplus

and drought

Cycles of life

and death

The lifeline,

the artery

That pumps

the blood of the people

and it is blood that is demanded

by the gods on their alters

as payment for the riches

to their chosen

Throats slit, and spills out the

currency of power

Priests, consummate their love

for the gods with these genocidal

acts

To keep the dynasty going

for thousands of years

The Great Eye ever watchful,

sees their crimes
