A shadow is not darkness

Merely the absence of light.

A shadow has no physical strength

And therefore has no might.

A shadow can be tall

Or small.

It can be light or dark

Or not show at all.

It is never heard,

And rarely seen.

You never know

Where a shadows been.

But all these things

A shadow does not choose,

It all depends on the person

That the shadow must not lose.

Without its person

A shadow cannot exist long.

Lose the person,

And the shadow is gone.

All of these things

I already know,

For I am no person...

I am a shadow.
