Green Sorrow

Shaded green

faded

The mansion leaves are falling

dropping

covering

In ever greener carpets

doubling the ground cover

Grown

mown

The grass has cover statues

that used to be Greek and nude

I am

blue

Since the gardener has quit

my mind has overgrown

With leaves and grass

residue that reminds me of you

But you not here now

to uncover the grounds

of the paradise we built

And you're not aware now

that's it's raining on the roof

You're so aloof to

my green sorrow

Shaded green

faded

Our love has gone

Stopping

wiping away

the tears that water my cheeks

The sprinklers haven't worked for weeks

Months

Years

since we've been apart

and I've a new start

Without

you

Since you've left me

I've recovered

The lawn is cut

to cover shreds and pieces

of my heart

The house is falling

my green sorrow

but I'll build a new one

tomorrow
