I am A Fighter

The pins and needles you have struck

Deep in my heart, behind my back,

Have turned me into something stronger,

Guess what? I am now a fighter.

Remember the days when I was drowning,

The misery that followed in my sleeping;

They shaped me into something better,

Because today, I am now a fighter.

The wounds and cuts you once inflicted,

The blood and tears I once depicted,

Have sharpened me into something tougher;

Believe me, I am now a fighter.

The chains in my hands are now broken,

The rope around my neck unfastened;

The day of reckoning is drawing nearer,

You’ll see it: I am now a fighter.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem came from a place of pain and struggle, but also from realizing that everything I went through made me stronger than I thought I could be.
