Through a Tarnished Telescope

I saw a light in the evening sky,

A bright meteor from distant heights,

With flaring gleams that never die,

Through my tarnished silver telescope.

I searched the light among the constellations,

Trapped within the space of my imagination,

Looking for answers to my questions,

For something real, not just illusion.

As the meteor burned across the sky,

I saw your face with my naked eye,

Shaped by the stars that beamed so bright,

Like a map drawn in the middle of the night.

Your presence lingers through this fragile lens,

And I will always remember your existence;

I only wish that meteor might stay there,

For longer… perhaps forever.

Author's Notes/Comments:

This was inspired by a scene that reminded me how it feels to see someone you care about, knowing the moment won’t last.
