WHY STIR EMBERS OF AN OLD FLAME?

Heavy showers lash city
Lightning flares
Poor folks seek shelter
Thunder scowls ominously
Cars screech on old roads
Cops don't care
Darkness increases further
Yet young boys and girls
Are merry
I wish I were with those friends
Like decades ago
Enjoying
Today I and the showers
Must fall to quench thirst
Of sad souls
Ungrateful whispers strike ears
Whimpering complaints
About change
Flowers smile and make me long
For loving Daphne*
Yet again
Yesterday relived once more
As I stand alone
Lost in past
How to reconcile with now
When I am not with
My beloved?
So let it thunder and rain
Why stir embers of
An old flame?
Sleepless night will be stretching
Like Farhad* pining
For Shireen*...
Hold back your tears Emmenay
Swallow the poison
Share it not...
And if it becomes painful
Sing a hymn in praise
Of Lord God...
