LOVE'S MYSTERIOUS TRUTH

O still night hear my story,

It is a mystery,

About the maiden I loved,

My feelings for her kill me,

Her loving presence,

Always remains beside me.

From childhood to blooming youth,

She was only mine,

God's most enchantng houri*,

Aphrodite or Helen,

Nor is Venus like her,

She remains purely special.

Maybe the sky and stars know,

About our pure love,

But don't you share the secret.

The sea waves relate our tale,

Which is not a tale,

It's love's mysterious truth.

Author's Notes/Comments:

*HOURI: A special and beautiful creature of God Almighty reserved for the righteous ones in Paradise. It also alludes to a pretty woman with large eyes and a comely figure.

In memory of my first and only love, the unforgettable Daphne John.
