He Gave Her A Rose

Folder:
FINAL

He gave her a rose before he left.

The tears formed in her eyes.

Knowing she could never touch him again,

she held onto it, and gripped tight.

She held onto the rose, as the weeks passed,

the thorns drew blood of her hands.

The petals grew course, inside her grasp,

it was her last attempt to let go.

Her torment grew, as the petals fell.

The retention of his adulation grew.

She forced her eyes, her tender eyes,

to look up at the vacant skies of new.

She wished she could tell him how angry she was.

She tore up the picture in her hand.

She stood by the ocean, to watch the waves roar.

The rose lay dying inside her grasp.

He wrote her letters before he left.

She kept them to remind herself,

to never feel that amount of love again.

To never fall for anyone else.

She held onto the rose, as more weeks passed,

with abrasions still of her hand.

The petals fell, inside her grasp,

this was her last attempt to let go.

He gave her that rose before he left.

He told her he loved her so often,

that letting go, was the hardest part...

as she threw the rose on the coffin.
