Future Footsteps

She walks across the cubic sand,

her bare feet do not ache.

She is lost in a marvel of thoughts.

The sun is setting across the sea.

She longs to gaze at the stars,

wondering someday if she'll ever reach them.

The only sound is the awe of nature,

and that is loud enough.

She does not stop for the minds distractions,

each step leaves a mark in the sand.

She does not look back upon her own footsteps,

a reminder of her contemptuous past.

There used to be two foot prints in the sand,

since have been washed away.

She does not pace, she moves on forward,

each stride to another day.

She walks across the cubic sand,

her haven undiscovered.

But she knows she is left to future foot steps,

as the sun sets upon her marvel.
