Succor

fey shadows wraith your eyes

oh bija you look so hollow, starved

I will be your food, your nourishment

come let me hold your weary bones

   while you sleep

then wake and I will feed you more

   until we are both sated

There is a tone to this poem

There is a tone to this poem that gives it a sense of being an ancient inscription that has lasted through the ages; just as the beauty of this poem, going forward, will also last for ages.  If I were teaching a course on poetry, this poem would be on my syllabus:  I think every aspiring poet, and even a well experienced poet, can learn a lot from this poem.  Frankly, I think thiis is one of the best poems ever posted on postpoems.  It will be a poem I revisit.

Thank you, and I am very grateful to you for posting this poem.  I have read and re-read it several times.  It is fascinating, and, though brief, it is profound as well.
