Cheers to what life used to be

I’ve been searching far and wide for me

Desperately seeking the person I used to be

Innocent and untouched

Naïve, Unbroken Pure Heart, uncrushed

Let’s Drink!

Cheers to what life used to be

I used to have the most beautiful soul

But life took a nasty toll

Will I ever learn, or continue living like a blind mole

I learn my lesson, move on, only to find myself having to play the exact same role

Silly me, believing that I will be able to find the soul I used to be

Silly me, assuming that one’s soul could still be the same after a lifelong learning spree

Silly me, thinking that I could find the ‘old me’

Silly me, praying for something that can never be

Cheers to my great discovery that life will and can never be what it used to be

Cheers to realizing at long last that one’s soul is like a flowing river, ever changing

Cheers to reality, Cheers to being me

Cheers to knowing that one’s soul, no matter how tattered and torn, is now even greater
