My Grandfather's Hobby
I have had the opportunity to meet many grandfathers through my life, but no one like mine. My grandfather is a very peculiar person, he has a unique personality with which you can spend a very good time. As a peculiar person, he does indeed have a peculiar hobby. He always has a beer in his hand, either can or bottled, no matter what is happening you can always count on him for beer (and believe me, I don’t know why, but he is not fat). It is obvious that this is not a hobby, but for me it just is, I bet the people than know him can almost count the times that they have seen him without a beer. The curious thing is that I have never seen him drink any other type of alcohol, even if it’s a cold day, a dinner, or anything that comes to your mind you will never see him with a glass of wine, of scotch, or something else. Just beer, gold and shiny like the sun. Although he has been doing this since forever, he has never discontinued the task of being a good grandpa, his grandchildren (me, my brother, and all of my cousins) have always find it kind of funny and unique. We have come with different theories (as a joke) about my grandfather, once we said that we didn’t knew if he did ever get drunk or if he was drunk all the time, like literally the whole day. Through the years we also came up with different questions like for example: did he ever got a hangover? Maybe what I am saying is sounding kind of an inappropriate behavior coming from a grandfather, but for me is not that way because he has earned everything he has by his own bare hands. In other aspects, my grandfather is a really good role model, and if I think that now, imagine what I would have thought if I had known him as a young man. Now that I think about it, the beer he holds on all those sunny days is just the first image that comes to mind when you talk about him, but in reality is about something way deeper that only our family can understand. Keeping it simple, in present day, he is just a happy old man with a lot of experiences and lessons that loves drinking beer. Maybe one of this day I will go have a cold one with my old man.
