Confusion

Up is down and left is right.

Something’s pulling my close while
All the same something’s pulling
Me away. I give in only to resist.
In this fashion my time passes
With all the excitement of drying
Paint. My head fills with too many
Half formed thoughts that jangle
About like loose change.

Sanity once solid now scattered
Like sand blown by the wind.
With it judgement and confidence
Have departed replaced by indecision.
It will take me a lifetime to
Gather again, a lifetime I don’t have.

This tunnel I travel through is about
To end but the light ahead appears
Awfully dim. Will I reach the end
Only to find my destination worse
Then my journey? I’d like to return
To a state of tranquility I’ve lingered
In the land of insanity far too long.
