Once Upon a Time

Once Upon a Time

Hot summer night
As the fireflies danced
We walked along holding hands
With nervousness showing in our palms
Not sure whether she or I the most

Dragonflies were singing their mating call
As the sun had summoned its sky for our backdrop
Our talk spoke of nervousness, as we both knew
What was to come about,
When time would be placed,
Upon our lips

Pausing before getting to her door
From behind her, I smelled her hair
Inhaling the fragrance emitted by her,
Her musk perfume permeated my senses
Down to the very tips of my toes

She turned while the moment had now arrived
Looking into my eyes, it was as if she were searching for an answer
Slowly, we found each others lips
While time seemed to stand still
This moment never to be forgotten
By either of us.

Seventh grade moments, transcended into lifelong memory
I'm sure that she sometimes thinks of me
To a Moody Blues "Once upon a time"
Earmarking a place in time,
When time... was placed...upon our lips.

About this write

I wrote this about a childhood sweetheart. Funny, years later she messaged me on FB... This video makes me think of her...as does this song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nl_3oT1Up8o
