So We Went a Sailing

We decided to take a sail one day,

Across the ocean blue,

Take a trip to the unknown,

To have an adventure with you,

It was a beautiful sunny day,

We had fun and laughed with glee,

I decided to take a short cut,

Away from the glorious sea,

Down a shaded river,

It gave us a break from the sun,

It started to get a little shallow,

But that couldn't ruin our fun,

As day turned into night,

We dropped the sail to just drift,

The river started to change,

Current increased, bends, twists,

At first we didn't notice,

Played and tried to ignore,

The current got too fast,

In the center, too far from shore,

Suddenly we felt it,

Our boat knocked up against the rocks,

I tried to cling to you,

It was too bumpy,

My grip unlocked,

We were both tossed overboard,

No more boat to safe us keep,

Choking on the water,

The river suddenly so deep,

We grasped onto the same branch,

Extended from the bank,

Our boat smashed and invisible,

At the bottom because it sank,

You shimmy slowly down the branch,

Until you land at beach,

So tired from the struggle,

Please help, you can reach,

I am not as strong as you,

I need your help to pull me,

The branch starts cracking and breaking,

You notice the waterfall I can't see,

You look a little worried,

You have not helped me yet,

You're still resting on the bank,

I still need you, did you forget?

The water is so cold,

I look at the branch in tears,

I want to be on the beach with you,

Away from these worries, cares and fears,

Please don't let me fall,

I will just hang here and wait,

The freezing water sucking my strength,

While you lay on the shore and debate,

I'm glad that we went sailing,

It's the detour I should not have taken,

The vast sea would not have been this troubling,

Of this I am not mistaken,

The branch breaks,

You still have time,

Forgive me for my discrepancies,

Reach your hand to mine.

Before I fall into the end.
