The life I want to remember…

Remembering my past and where it all started

In a small country where clean water is a privilege

People survive anyways because they are strong

Deep rooted trees and mountain high that almost reach the sky

Breeze that can take you away to a place call paradise

Deep Blue Ocean, which touch your skin and soothe your pain

Early morning coffee smelling good all-around and rooster singing the songs of happiness

Families and togetherness that welcomes you anytime for a meal

Beautiful nights that reach the stars up high and take you into a peaceful sleep

Here, I found myself today in a country full of wealth

People come from all over to seek a better future, so call a better life

I look around me and all I see is buildings, highways and cars

Where most do not have time to really enjoy the nature around them

They are running and working all around making a life for themselves

Doing whatever it takes to achieving high and sometimes unreachable goals

Reaching out to the unknown and unseen mountain top

It is endless hard work and life almost has loss its meaning

Running here, running there, paying here, giving there

No real family, no family time, no values

Everyone is out for themselves and would be willing to run over you to get ahead

Unless invited, no meals are being served

Oh how I miss my beautiful country, my paradise

Remembering the life I chose, trying to reach the mountain top

Author's Notes/Comments:

I wrote this poem for people that had to leave their motherland to a better country.
