Autumn leaves die but yet stay the same

The Autumn leaves die but yet
stay the same
buried beneath the winter snow
with each passing day the world turns gray
the love we had was fatal

ending in tragedy that was written in the spring rain
like a poem not finished left with all the blank spaces
I only knew the ending was going to bare unimaginable pain
I foolishly thought it could be saved
waiting, pondering, wondering, crying
watched as you walked away taking
with you what's worth living,
sitting in the darkness there is nothing to be seen,
not even a glance of hope.
but there are a few good memories that keep me awake at night
hold me in their grasp,
sometimes, it's enough to keep away the frightful
feelings of being alone
