They Danced Alone

Sitting all alone in a spot in his mind,

a man stood against the wall watching the party pass him by

he repeated these words in his head

Dance with the one who brought you

So he looked down upon himself from the seat up in his mind,

and made his way onto the dance floor solo.

They didn't notice him

They were all holding each other close.

Dancing slowly to the love filled tune in the air.

He smiled to himself as he stepped side to side

Thinking of what could have been, what might have been, what will be

She was daddy's little girl

and he always protected her as so

the boys never had a chance,

she was 16 with all she thought she wanted

Princess barbie hand in hand with ken wirled across the dresser,

and in her mind she was queen of the ball.

They both knew what they wanted,

but they don't know what will be

so as they wonder the time does pass

and they both dance alone.

They sit alone in the corners watching listening, and waiting

alone, but in a similar state of mind

A single tear slides down her cheek and the door swings shut as she leaves

He sees his reflection in an empty wine glass.

Enough time has been wasted so he leaves.

He needs time to sift through the thoughts.

The lights sparkle as he sees her sitting there.

All alone on a park bench, watching life go by.

The distant sound of the club can almost be heard in the nite.

He takes her by the hand and pulls her close to his heart.

They glide to the Shymphony that plays inside there heads.

No words invade their harmony,

and the song ends.

They part ways and disappear into the nite.
