One Eye Open
I've closed my eyes so that the sun never sets and dreams never fade
but every time a dare to open one eyelid for just a peek
the darkness surrounds me
the nightmare that is true life engulfs me
I squeeze both eyes shut because I can not bare to look
Now that I have risked to peek
my eyes closed cannot hide the horrors
The visions of heartbreak and lonliness play on the inside of my eyelids like theatre screens.
My heart has shattered
I was recollect the pieces, but not use the shards to cut my wrists.
My mental torment is much worse than anything physical I would dare.
Life will indeed go on.
My heart like a phoenix.
Today it lies in a pile of ashes,
but one day it will rise again from the flame.
