As I understand it, there was not interaction. Merrill made that remark in a documentary about Wallace Stevens' poetry.
oh wow... even more moving as the extension of the person by means of their artistic output made such an impact on another soul as to bring such a remark to the 'public square.'
Statues are bowed to
bananas are the perfect food
for prostitues
Oh yeah, that is one way of looking at it! One thing it is to be statuesque and quite another to be statue-fied
