"Paper Figure"
by C.James mar'13
I'm a paper figure
Light me into a soot of ash
I'm a wasted bit of candle wax
Burn me till I melt and drip away
I'm a useless shape of drying clay
Molded into an unwanted form
I'm a wilted flower worn
A crooked stem a dying thorn
A shadeless old withered tree
Set on fire so you all can watch the flames
I'm the smoke you choke into your lungs
You breathe the soul of the broken one
Until the wind lifts and carries me away
I'm only here for you to deceive
After all that it shows you didn't even care
I'm not even worth one single tear
A reflection lost in shattered glass
Good for you I'm now your past
A paper figure you'll soon forget
I'm a soot of ash that you had lit
