Swim Back

Do you think I walk around, with my eyes closed?
And do you think I've only heard, never listened, and then I’ll forget
I'm sure you would imagine that I've enjoyed being called:
Naive – stupid – naive –stupid

And I guess you've been right to suspect
These things because I stuck by you
And because you can put on a suite and talk a talk
And boy, how you tighten up that tie

You are bigger than me- we don’t have to argue this time
I am quite aware that you have earned your privilege
To lie and I have never laced up those shoes you wear, as if you cared.

I have seen eternity and traveled bare foot on the
Material and lives that you have trampled on
But boy you never looked behind
to say-
"My dear, you are so kind"
("Thank you"
No, babyboo, thank you.)

I have had the royalty of knowing just how you sleep
And if I did deeds the way that you do,
Darling, I would need those drugs to help me sleep too.

Is this your only skill to condescend?
Oh, have you so many friends!
Those junkies and the jailbirds
The wealth that laugh when your name is heard
The bottom eaters, the feeders, who took a dive and were just too naive to swim back
Can you believe they never swam back?
