Dear Grandpa,

It has been a while since you passed away.  I do miss you.  I really, really, do.  However, every once in a while, I find my mind turning like a bird winging, and changing course over Nahant beach, where you used to live.

A friend mentioned Nahant today, and I explained to her that you and Aida had a home there, and how we would go there Sunday afternoons for relaxation and fun.  How we would watch TV and/or a movie, and have a nice pasta dinner.  Aida was an awesome cook.  She really was.  You two were a great couple.  You were, I think, very lucky to find each other.

I just wanted to write a quick note to say I was thinking of you.  You are never, never, never, gone.  Your spirit will always be there.  You will be there to watch over me, you will be there to watch over all of us.

I love you.

I miss you.

I have done this myself ... write to someone that has passed on to tell them that they are being thought of, loved, and missed. Who of us is to say that things such as this do not reach heaven?
