One Hello And A Thousand Goodbyes

Folder:
RORY

One hello and a thousand goodbyes,

All that I've ever known,

All that ever was.

One hello,

To rejoice.

To feel alive again.

A thousand goodbyes,

To despair.

To understand a little more, each time.

You wave and I wave,

As wind blows the leaves around us.

It has been like this season after season,

One hello and a thousand goodbyes.

A tight hug, a passionate kiss.

Heated nights staring into your eyes.

It has been like this year after year,

One hello and a thousand goodbyes.

Your life commands respect,

My life demands patience.

Each has their own virtues, their own follies.

One hello and a thousand goodbyes.

Though - I am not alone in this.

We all sit and wait patiently, waving back to you -

Already waiting for the next hello.

One hello and a thousand goodbyes.

We are more proud of you than you know,

Our sorrow is nothing compared with pride.

So, just know that we will be stead-fast through

One hello and a thousand goodbyes.
