Standing on my Chest

There is a man sleeping in my mind
A woman standing on my chest
And power lines providing restless
Nights for those who must feel something,
Beauty sleep isn't what I need
I'll take a knowledge nap
A late night cap
Though no pills of prescription,
I don't need to fly that high,
It's never been me to be that mean
At least without not knowing
And no one I can hear is
Openly disapproving,
Read to me before bed
And let me lay my head on you,
An ounce of that would provide
A pound of something I've been missing,
Will you paint me a new picture?
One where the ending has more color,
The frame is intact,
The ambience is something less generic,
My esoteric rambling soothes nothing
But the man inside me
And the man outside shakes his head
Before handling his own worry,
Scurry on rodents
You'll get the cheese in the end
If this maze allows you to be
Concluded,

Students of being lost

Without an inch of prudence
