I know not who you are yet

nor what your name will be.

But I love you little grandchild

unconditionally!

My arms they wait to hold you

my eyes, to see your face.

Will you be a rough house boy

or a dainty girl of grace?

I will always be there

if ever you should call.

I'll pick you up, dust you off

if you should ever fall.

And so my little grandchild

I await the day of your birth.

As with a cry you announce

you have arrived here on this earth!
