RISING SON

The sound of metal against metal,
Splitting through flesh, then wood.
The cries of anguish, from a Mother,
Weeping where she stood.

There upon the rugged cross,
Jesus was crucified.
While thieves begging, His forgiveness,
Hung next to Him, on either side.

When the ninth hour arrived,
"It is finished." He softly said.
He gave up His willing Spirit...
And the Son of God was dead.

His body enshrouded in linen,
Was laid there in a tomb.
Nearby was the grieving Mary,
Who had carried Him, in her womb.

Upon the third day after,
The tomb was found empty inside.
The joyous news spread to His disciples,
"Jesus Has Risen!" they cried.
