The Weapon

Folder:
On Life and Living

Like a sharpened weapon,

upon a stone,

It has the power,

to cut to the bone.

Its jagged edge,

gnaws like steel.

Through the layers

that make us feel.

It takes delight,

in its nasty jabs.

Without even caring,

just who it stabs.

It can cut someone down,

such a vicious attack.

With just one word,

how can you fight back?

A simple smile,

is your best defense.

Cause it'll stop them cold,

and won't make sense.

The tongue is the sharpest,

weapon I know.

It has the power,

to hurt you so.

So go ahead, arm yourself,

with just a little grin,

and it will be one battle,

you are sure to win!
