The irises didn't bloom

The promise of flowers grabbed me.

Those eyes, and quiet, surging energy

Obliviously tragic in hopefulness

We ran straight for fields of purple passion hand-in-hand

But you let go

or I didn't know

Are we ending too soon?

All I know is the irises didn't bloom.

That summer with the pool — we grew, me and you

The harvest yeilded wounds

But we wanted the flowering,

plowed ahead to the possibility

But I let go

and you couldn't grow

fast enough for my doom.

All I know is the irises didn't bloom.
