The Moor

Something stirs distant in the fog

Just out of sight and out of hearing

Restless on the moor

Nocturnal creature taking life

From the fog that chills me deep

And holding breath until, like death

I'm overcome with sleep

Something watches through the fog

With heightened sight and perfect hearing

Ice cold upon the moor

Infernal creature who lives by night

And takes the days from me

Till I'm wrapped intact in velvet black

And fog is all I see
