I've always been one to push away love

Stronger than emotion, I thought I was

And I did not need another's help

Nothing love could do I couldn't do for myself



I told you once you couldn't be the one

And I never went out searching for love

I said what I meant and I meant what I said

Nothing love could do to let it hurt me again



I was wild and I kept my distance known

Recklessly at me, your heart was thrown

Couldn't count on me since commitment I feared

Nothing love could do to draw me in near



As time passed, my heart grew oblivious

Slowly but surely, I started to trust

Though I approached love with great reluctancy

Nothing love could do to pass an opportunity



You opened my heart and showed me true love

I became vulnerable, but couldn't get enough

Being with you made me feel brand new

Nothing love could do to take me from you
