Night Walk(ninth draft)

Stumble step

Out from the dark
On a night slick
With rain-breath
And sweet jazz coming from
A door red as cherries
Slipping past the open door
A soft green light falls on it's knees
Over glistening stone steps
Like emeralds and peace

Peering with broken sight through
A weeping window faded with moonlight and merciless time
High spirits abound through the yellow tint
Of the lost ones who've come to lighten
Their shadows

Scuffing feet drenched in a puddle of
Streetlamp gold
Stammering feet tripping from
Gold to emerald
Past a blood-red door
Into a warm green light
And the drifting horn dripping of the smiles
And ears and walls
Shedding your shadow at the door
For a night
Forget the dark
