The Road To Forgiveness

It begins with betrayal,

A person you trust and love,

Buries a knife in your back,

Pain and suffering follows,

You yell, you cry, you hurt,

But the wound sits there festering,

No matter you do,

You can't make it stop,

And then you finally say why?

Why me? Why this?

Why did you do this to me?

But you know the only person who has the answer,

Is the person causing you so much pain,

So you continue to wander around,

Blind and confused,

Always wondering, why?

Until finally you decide,

I'm going to ask them,

I'm goingto find out,

And then you think,

When I do I will not have pain anymore,

And I can move on,

Soyou go and you talk,

And you yell and cry,

The wound you tried so hard to heal,

Has had the scab ripped off,

But, you realize the one who hurt you,

Who you are supposed to despise and hate,

Hurts just as much as you do,

They are sporting the same wound,

And you feel sympathy,

For you understand that pain,

Now you know the why,

And you understand,

You have a choice to make,

Do you forgive the person?

And then pretend they never existed?

Or do you forgive them and let them back in?

Into your life with open arms?

Forgiveness goes both ways,

It depends on the person making the decision,

And how badly that person was hurt,

How deep the wound runs,

And how deep the relationship ran,

You cannot heal until forgiveness comes,

You may think you have,

But the wound does not fully heal,

Until you have gone down the road of forgiveness,

So how do you forgive?

You must come to terms with what has happened,

You must accept it,

You must understand it,

And you must not dwell on it,

Then, youmust tell the person that has hurt you,

What your decision is,

Or, you just leave them out of your life,

And tell them how you feel,

Without truely telling them,

But, you must say,

I forgive you to forget the pain,

You forgive that person so that you can move on with your life...
