******************* $60 Intermission *************************

So… where does the road take me? All alone… yet altogether… drunk… at Kris’s techno night at the Long Island… only he isn’t here… nobody I know is here.

The place is full of young pill-poppers. Dealers maybe… all opting for an equivalent cheaper night as opposed to the one containing taxi rides to & from the city.

“Woo!” is still in the air…

It’s only fifteen minutes past midnight. A young guy sits across the room from me. He’s sitting in one of those pay-for-massage chairs. Having already tried them at a “Sunny” night, I glance over, make eye contact & say:

“They’re fucking excellent those!”

“Fuck Yeah!” he replies.

Young bodies drift backwards & forwards, making me realise I’m not one of them.

Who am I?

Fuck me! Who’s the guy that just sat down across the room from me? Black polished shoes, slacks, nice shirt… at a techno/psy-trance night? Gotta be an under cover cop… or a moron… or just finished work upstairs etc.

“Who are you here with?” or “Why aren’t you with anybody?”… I sit & wait for those questions to arrive. My answer is “Why do you ask? That sounds to me like the question of an insecure person. Who are we, if we cannot be complete on our own?”.

They disappear. No one questions me. Why would they? They are all on happy drugs & they’re not about to let some old loner, siting in the corner by himself, writing or dribbling crap on a piece of paper, to ruin their drug induced spirits. Neither would I. I think people are starting to look sus. Maybe I should put this piece of paper away & just sit here like any other normal loner. Ok… but just for a while.

The safest thing to do when you’re out in a pub or disco on your own, is to shut your eyes. No one bothers you when you have your eyes shut. (except maybe the security staff – ed.)

I’m impressed… 1:09am & nobody has bugged me.

I think I like this place.

Drinking at a psy-trance night attracts notoriety.

After only 4 or 5 drinks the bartender recognised me & offered:

“So what’ll it be this time?”
