Stilling the Storm

He was worn out, exhausted, drained and spent

From Healing and from preaching on the road,

To cross the lake now was the Lord's intent

To visit the Decapolis by boat.

But soon a violent storm and gale arose,

And whipped the pitch dark lake of Galilee,

And threatened to submerge the boat and toss

The crew into the furious stormy sea.

He slept throughout the storm which He ignored,

The God-Man slept, - exhausted, drained and spent,

But behind weary manhood stood the Lord,-

The  deity within a human tent.

He heard His scared disciples'  shouts of fear,

God-Man - Theandric Personality,

And merciful divinity can hear

The cries of anguished man with empathy.

He'd slept profoundly during storm and gale,

But not through cries for help and for support,

When gales and devastating storms assail

He is the wide awake unfailing Lord.

The resting worn-out man gets up from sleep

As master of all Vessels, Stern, and Prow,

Commanding: " Hush!- be silent" to the  deep,

Divinity aglow upon his brow.

He slept - a weary man throughout the gale

And tempests and the storms that howled and roared,

But praise Him praise! -  He did not miss nor fail

To be the all sustaining Saving Lord.
