The Red, Write, and Blue

I was sitting at my desk

Not an hour till two

And I couldn't stop thinking

Of the Red, White, and Blue

This land that i live in

The life that i crave

This land of the free

And the home of the brave

Only here can i write

And know down to the tooth

That whatever I write

I can write as the truth

My emotions let loose

My feelings can be

Expressed on this page

And I'm totaly free

I can't give back

What John H gave to us

Or what Tom J had in store

But use it I must

This pen has few limits

I can't use it to hurt

Or to get in other's ways

To freely assert

To each all his own

And to all:  use your right

Speak what you think

Join in the fight

Put pen to paper

Democratic or Red

Pride in the country

Or better off dead

I can't help but love

This land of the free

I don't know about you

But it's home to me

Whatever you say

Please keep it true

You've been given that right

By the Red, White, and Blue

Author's Notes/Comments:

I just felt i had to write this tonight.  I don't have any motive for it realy.  Just don't ever lose your sense of your first amendment rights.  clay
