Age With Grace

Cucumber slices on both her eyes

On the plush sofa the plump overfed lady lies

Anxious to keep in shape her flabby body

Masseuse rubs warm aromatic herbal gel on her

Scoops dollops of fresh milk-cream- the elixir of youth

Her ivory-white flaccid face

She craves to look fresh and beautiful

Chopped ground fruits--mixed with milk

She wants to transform complexion to silk

Patiently lying on the cold metal disinfected operating table

Plastic surgeon cuts off slices of skin ,scarlet blood gushes out

Her blood pressure falls-- expensive blood transfused

Face bandaged for three long weeks

What kind of beauty the old lady seeks?

Where are the blue denim jeans she used to wear?

Locked secure in a cupboard ,smelling of moth-balls

What is this in its back pocket ??

Photograph of her youthful boyfriend

Isn't it better to savour nostalgia and gracefully meet the end?

Author's Notes/Comments:

My personal views on seeing middle aged ladies (and some men too) trying hard to hide their age. However much they try.. it shows and in a very pitiful manner. But again it is the way things are and will be for generations to come. Miracle-Age Cream reduces your age by 10 years. Even fairness creams are now being used by males !!!

I am not a fan of plastic

I am not a fan of plastic surgery or any other 'elective' surgeries anymore because there is too much overgrowth of bacteria already. I find this poem hystrically funny because of how you described this woman so well...I can 'see' her, but at the same time, quite sad we have become so shallow as a species. ~peace~

...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "

Its fun nl1220

Thank you so much for reading .Its fun nl1220 how people (men & ladies) try to look younger & better using so many different kind of aids.It seems to me polishing "shoe leather" after applying rejuvenating cream. It is pitiful... because it shows !!! It's virus/bacteria which is multiplying regularly & will one day overcast & take over all our good senses. May god help us then !!!!

Oh, the ladies who get so

Oh, the ladies who get so much plastic surgery they become stiff. I'm sure plastic surgery was invented for the purpose of helping burn victims. Wasn't it once considered good to be old, for the elder ones are much more wise.

Wisdom and Age

Thanks for commenting iwonderwho.Wisdom and Age doesn't always go hand in hand. Often old people are grousy and irritable which they thrust upon yougies which of course the youngies detest. Some youngies however try to appease the oldies just for keeping them in good humour. Nowadays people do go for plastic surgery(those who can afford it & want to look better) Boys and girls have their molar teeth uprooted and then pass thru agony of braces to have a nice set of teeth. Harsh realities iwh. Complaints over petty matters are mostly made by old people. Only if the old people realise what they used to think when they were young !! The world would be a much much better and happier place. Sorry for the indoctrination.

right after commenting , I

right after commenting , I read a quote by someone saying "people thinke old people are wise because they have experience. everyone forgets that the stupid people grow old , too". so, there goes the "all elders being wise" reliability. no, don't be sorry, it's nice to hear what other people think and what thoughts i share with them.
