bishupoetry The baul's song ,rustic,memorable, rang in my ears
"Teeth will shake and fall, hair will grey
You will ask .. Born as a man what have I done for man"
Hands of wristwatch almost steady at ten
Time stood still.. a dull pain.. then throbbing pain
Aching !! Oh what an ache !! the toothache !!
In a trance I thought of my ageing body,soul,mind
That colourful,youthful health which I left behind
"Are yo ashamed of your age ?"...... "Not really.."
Then why do you lament ? Why do you fear ?"
Eyes ache with glucoma , blood sugar,blood pressure
Sleep became elusive God I began to fear
I went on a pilgrim's journey to Haridwar
I saw a blind sage .... old and weary with age
Held onto a walking stick, his back was very bent
He coughed ,sputtered,he had no teeth !! clad in rags !
I looked in dismay at my branded travel bags
He was having his first meal of the day
How gratefully he savoured the humble food !!!!
He relished every morsel, every mouthful
Washed down his food with water from the Ganges
Sat silently clad in the mantle of peace
I returned to my homeland a happier man

Oh, Bishu---so sorry about your toothache. Toothaches can be so very painful. The throbbing makes it feel at times as if the head will explode. I do hope you feel better soon.
The poem is nice, although at times getting old is not! :-D Thank you for teaching about the Hindu pigrimage, too!

Toothache has passed thanks nl1220 after dentists intervention. I'm no teacher just wanted to make sure that readers get the background else half the fun is lost. Thanks again.

So sad but so nice to see the description of different types of pain from age to age. And in the end you went home as a happy man for you had cleansed your body and soul like the man who had a wash and didn't have any complaints to offer.
