Mad House

Since the last six days my house is crawling with masons,carpenters and electricians. I am thankful that the electricians have finally left a short while ago.Masons are still working like mad as though their only mssion is to make as much noise as possible. The carpenters [ three today] are considerate enough with their silent sawing, hinging,nailing,screwing and painting.Oh .. I forgot the drunk plumber.You must be remembering his name from my earlier episodes.This plumber is named Vishnu [the name of a powerful Hindu God]

While the masons were doing the plastering work in the bathroom they said that water was leaking from a broken pipe.Vishnu has a cellphone. I rang him and asked him to come stat.He arrived in half an hour and then put a rusty iron plug to plug the leak.The sinister masons continued their work.Right at this moment Vishnu began giving a long list of items to be purchased for fixing a sink in the kitchen.I shelled out Rs.300/- and he brought about for feet of metal pipe and I had to pay another Rs.200/- for fixing it.But even after six days there is no water in the kitchen sink.

Right now as I write masons are fixing ceramic tiles in the kitchen and three carpenters are working.Hopefully by this evening the mtile-mason work will be completed.I have asked the two young men to put some cement plaster on the top of my in-built wooden wardrobe which has peeled off.They agreed but I don't really know when they'll do it. Every now and then the professionals demand money to buy material and I just have to comply.

As you must be knowing by now I enjoy a full two-hour post lunch siesta. When I wake up all the workers are gone leaving work half done.How many more days do I have to tolerate this nuisance ?? I am already half-mad and if this goes on for another week I'll be in a lunatic asylum screaming and cursing.
